The death of a 1-month-old Brooklyn girl was ruled a homicide Wednesday and now police are eyeing the tragic tot’s mom and her boyfriend — who was previously investigated for child abuse, sources told The Post.

Police found Nichelle Warring unconscious in her crib after being called to the home on Hancock Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant on June 26.

The child’s mother, 20-year-old Kenesha McCroskey, told cops that she placed the baby in the crib after feeding her, but when she checked on her 45 minutes later, Nichelle was not breathing and had blood coming from her nose.

The baby was rushed to Woodhull Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead and discovered she had a fractured skull and old fractures to her ribs, police said.

Police are now looking at McCroskey and her live-in boyfriend Hakeem Warring, 22, who are both locked up for unrelated crimes, as potential suspects.

The city Administration for Children’s Services previously investigated Warring for possible child abuse of an older kid in the house, police sources said.

Neighbors told cops the couple argued all the time.

Surveillance video from inside the building captured the McCroskey and Warring’s comings and goings the day Nichelle died.

McCroskey left the apartment to go to the bodega on the corner and, shortly after, Warring also left in an abrupt matter.

“He’s upset, slams the door of the apartment,” a police source said.

Warring then returned to the home before quickly leaving yet again with a bottle of Hennessey, the source added.

“Two minutes later, the mom who has returned from the bodega calls 911,” the source said. “That’s a red flag for us. We spoke to the mom, she was covering up for him – that’s the impression we got.”

Warring was also questioned at the time and “was very cold, an extremely cold person,” the source added.

The apartment building had been a shelter when McCroskey and Warring lived there and neighbors said the couple was known for loud arguments.

“I would hear them argue out loud when I would go downstairs,” said a neighbor on the fourth floor, who declined to give his name. “I’m not surprised. There’s a lot of ACS cases in this building. It’s a mess.”

Evelyn Adams, 53, said McCroskey was quiet and kept to herself and that Nichelle was always crying.

“I would leave for an appointment and the baby will be crying. I will come back and the baby will be crying,” she said.

“It looked like [McCroskey] was scared of him [Warring],” she said. “One time he called her name and she flinched and almost fell down the stairs with the stroller.”

McCroskey was arrested in October and November for a series of grand larcenies involving credit card fraud, police sources said.

Both she and Warring both have lengthy rap sheets, the sources added.

Last March McCroskey was arrested for trying to sneak contraband into a prison. She was also busted for a robbery in 2014, officials said.

No arrests have been made at this time in regard to the homicide.
