Garfield Heights man wounded by pellet gun in drive-by shooting

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A Garfield Heights was hurt when an unknown man shot him with a pellet gun in a drive-by shooting, police said.

The 18-year-old man was treated at Marymount Hospital and MetroHealth after the Thursday shooting on East 93rd Street near Grand Division Avenue, according to a police report.

The man was walking just after 11:30 p.m. when four men pulled up beside him in a black Jeep. The man walked toward the Jeep, assuming it was someone he knew.

The driver rolled down his window and said "what's up" a moment before a passenger rolled down a second window. The man heard a loud pop and felt a shot hit his left shoulder, the report says.

The Jeep sped off as the man ran to a friend's house on East 93rd Street. The friend called then 911.

Investigators and hospital personnel determined the shot was likely fired by a pellet gun, according to the report.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, police said Tuesday.
