Medina County Master Gardeners to host spring gardening seminar

MEDINA, Ohio - Winter is here, but Spring is coming. Garden enthusiasts can get a jump on things at the fourth annual OSU Master Gardener Volunteers of Medina County spring seminar.

The group will present "Garden Dreams and Design Schemes: Modern Design for the Modern Gardener" from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 25 in the A.I. Root Company Community Room, 640 W. Liberty St.

Doors will open at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $20 per person or $35 for two people who register together.

Ohio State University experts Dr. Laura Deeter and Pam Bennett will present talks on modern landscape design and the new crop of easy-to-maintain annuals.

Bennett will also be signing copies of her book, "Garden-pedia: an A-Z guide to gardening terms."

The event will also include refreshments, door prizes and a rummage sale of gently used and repurposed garden-themed items and tools donated by the Master Gardeners.

Proceeds will support the OSU Extension Phenology Garden and Citizen Science Project.

Registration forms for the seminar can be found at www.medina.osu.edu. The registration deadline is Feb. 17 or until the program is full.
