CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A New York man is accused of robbing a bank and using a taxi as his getaway car, according to police.

Ian Young, 20, of Williamsville, New York is charged with aggravated robbery. He was arrested later in the day in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Young is in the Erie County Prison awaiting his extradition hearing.

Young is accused of robbing the Citizen's Bank on Superior Avenue and East 63rd Street.

Young walked into the bank about 2 p.m and handed a note to the bank teller that demanded money. He also gestured like he had a gun, according to police.

Young left the bank and hopped into an ABC Taxi van. He took the cab to the Greyhound bus station and hopped on a bus to Erie, Pennsylvania, police said.

Erie Police Chief Don Dacus said Cleveland police contacted his officers about Young boarding a bus heading for Erie.

Erie officers got to the bus station as the passengers were getting off the bus. The officers spotted Young, who ran, Dacus said.

Young ran outside the bus station, where more officers were waiting. He was arrested without further incident, Dacus said. He did not have a gun with him when he was arrested, Dacus said.

Dacus said there was some confusion over whether Dacus traveled by himself. Erie officers eventually called for a SWAT team to enter the bus because a bathroom was locked.

Once they got into the bathroom, no one was inside.

Dacus said Young admitted to robbing the bank during an interview with Erie detectives. Dacus also said Young's fingerprints matched up with a person with a different name who was wanted for robbery in Maryland.
