MORELAND HILLS, Ohio -- Car crashes, road closures; Chagrin Boulevard: Sections of Chagrin hill were closed periodically between Jan. 27 and 30 due to snow and ice buildup, along with a number of accidents that occurred.

-- The hill was shut down between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 27 after an accident on the west side of the roadway between Route 91 and Chagrin River Road, involving an SUV and a Volkswagen Passat.

-- A car could still be driven away with minor damage after sliding off the roadway east of Chagrin River Road and striking the retaining wall at 2:24 a.m. on Jan. 28.

-- The hill was closed late on Jan. 29 after a semi-truck lost traction and became stuck. 

Hit-skip, Chagrin Boulevard: No injuries were reported in a Jan. 29 afternoon crash east of Chagrin River Road involving a Volkswagen Jetta and a car that fled the scene and continued eastbound toward Chagrin Falls. The roadway was closed for about 90 minutes until just before 5 p.m.

Car crash, Chagrin River Road: A driver escaped serious injury but was cited after running into a tree around a bend in the road about 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 27.

General assist, Canyon Drive: A resident requested assistance from police in getting his dying dog into a car about 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 30. Police responded but cleared the scene about 7:30 a.m., citing an apparent false alarm as the dog seemed to be doing fine after all.

Departmental information, Chagrin Boulevard: A party arrived on station on the evening of Jan. 26 to file a bullying report regarding a situation at Brady Middle School.

Theft, Chagrin River Road: A resident reported Jan. 30 that one of her diamond earrings had come up missing.

Foot patrol, Chagrin River Road: An officer went out on foot into the woods on the morning of Jan. 24 checking various spots in the area, looking for any evidence of illegal hunting activity, and finding none.
