Merkley should apologize: Letter to the editor

Senator Merkley sent out a missive boasting that he went to support protests against the "Muslim Ban" in Portland and on the Supreme Court steps.  He conveniently failed to consider that this action affects immigrants from only seven of approximately 50 majority Muslim nations and is not actually a "Muslim Ban." To refer to this by that current term being used by the Democrats to disparage our new president based on emotion instead of fact is disgusting and unacceptable, particularly by a seated US senator. He and other sore losers in his opposition party are sustaining the primary legacy of the last president, the division of our nation in every category possible.

Sen. Merkley needs to reconsider this, to publicly apologize for supporting another misplaced effort to further divide our nation, and to instead now work to actually reunite us. sustaining the primary legacy of the last president, the division of our nation in every category possible.

I call on Sen. Merkley to reconsider this, to publicly apologize for supporting another misplaced effort to further divide our nation, and instead to now work to actually reunite us.
