The news is clear, and it is good: more and more young people are good at maths, German and natural sciences – even if ir parents are uneducated and may not speak good German. Something or someone inspires m to exert mselves, even though y still do not have many opportunities in Germany. "Resilient" refers to a new, detailed evaluation of PISA results of 2015 students who do not surrender to ir fate. 2006, it was only 25 percent of 15-year-olds, now it's over 32 percent. The growth is not greater in any or country.

Why one child durchboxt and anor does not depend on many individual factors. If you look at biographies of successful immigrant children from poor families, y usually have one thing in common: someone trusted m and showed m that y have stuff to do something out of ir lives. Often it was a coincidence: big sister, a neighbor or mor of best friend helped with homework and discovered talents. Sometimes it was also a teacher.

    Friends from or Strata

The good news of this Pisa evaluation is: it is no longer just a coincidence wher it will help those who have difficulty. Schools are making a successful effort. Thus, study recognizes that schoolmates with better starting conditions can be particularly inspiring. The authors expect reforms to be effective. Because re are more students attending community and all-day schools than y used to. The weak will no longer remain exclusively among mselves as in main schools and do not go home any more at noon.

Although se new school concepts were not implemented in all federal states. And in some secondary, district or community schools, disadvantaged students still remain among mselves, because educated parents send ir children to high school or or parts of city. But idea of school has changed everywhere: injustice that a child has little chance of ascending from poor circumstances is no longer taken for granted. Teachers feel responsible.

    Motivated teachers

And why do you feel responsible? Because you're doing well. If conditions are good for teachers, students will learn better. The new PISA evaluation has now proven this intuitive context. The resilience of disadvantaged students is linked to wher headmaster motivates colleagues and gives teachers opportunity to shape school concept. It also helps students when a team of teachers is constantly re for m, so fluctuation is low. If teachers are interested in life of ir students and if y trust m, y can also be successful in so-called focal point schools, show or studies.
