Should Bernie Sanders start his own political party?

Senator Bernie Sanders is still a hero to millions on the left, especially those disaffected with the Democratic Party. Sanders, who caucuses with the Democrats but has always been an Independent, showed during the primary that he could galvanize passionate supporters but couldn't capture the Democratic nomination. Sanders' fans say he was treated unfairly and should just start his own party. Others think he should try to reform the Democrats. What do you think? [?] [?]

PERSPECTIVES

Many Berniecrats think the Democratic Party is just too corrupt for reform. They say corporations will always call the shots in that party, and they are urging Sanders to found a new one:

The widespread support for Bernie Sanders's candidacy, particularly among young people, has opened the door for new ideas about how to form a democratic political organization rooted in the working class.

But Bernie has said he would prefer to work with in the existing Democratic Party to make it more progressive.

A group of former Sanders staffers and delegates launched a campaign called "Draft Bernie for A People's Party" in an effort to convince the senator "to found a new party rooted in the progressive principles that awoke a political revolution during his campaign for the presidency."

Their Facebook page already has 9000 likes, and they are convinced the senator has not ruled out starting a new party.

#DraftBernie is their rallying cry.

Plenty of Bernie's critics in the Democratic Party would be thrilled to see him go start his own. They're tired of his critiques, still angry that he wanted to primary President Obama in 2012, and point out that after they gave him so much influence over writing their platform, he continues to bash Democrats. The Democrats will never be "progressive" enough for him, so he should go do his own thing.

Many say Hillary Clinton's stunning defeat at the hands of Donald Trump proves Democrats have to reform or die. Sanders' supporters are convinced that had he won the nomination, we would not have President Trump right now.

Bernie Sanders: Where the Democrats Go From Here https://t.co/NUTJDgnLtx Time for our reflection. Democrats need to reform.
