UK: Russian ex-spy for poisoning in hospital

A former Russian spy has been admitted to a British hospital after contact with an unknown substance in critical condition. According to BBC, Russians are former spy Sergei Skripal. Thus, Skripal and a companion on Sunday were found unconscious on a bench in a shopping mall in city of Salisbury.

The 66-year-old had been sentenced to 2006 in Russia because he was supposed to have been spying for Britain for decades. In 2010, he returned to United States and Russia for an exchange of trapped secret agents.

The incident reminds us of case of former Russian secret agent and British informant Alexander Litvinenko. He was 2006 with radioactive material Polonium poisoned and died. Two Russian spies were considered to be main suspects. However, government in Moscow refused to extradite it. Still on his deathbed, Litvinenko accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of having ordered attack.
