A train near Seattle is derailed on the US west coast. At least one wagon fell from a bridge to Interstate 5. At least six people died.

In state of Washington, a passenger derailed and partly crashed onto a highway. According to authorities, at least six people were killed. Hospitals report that more than 70 injured have been admitted. The cause of accident is still unclear.

The train was derailed early in morning near city of Tacoma, about 60 miles south of Seattle. On images in social media, it was seen how at least one wagon had crashed on busy Interstate 5 highway. A spokesman for sheriff's office in Pierce District said several cars and trucks had been hit. But no one had died of ir occupants. The road has been blocked, rescue workers are in large numbers on site.

A train passenger reported: "The only wagon that is on rails is rear locomotive." There were several wagons hanging over transfer. The transport company Amtrak confirmed an incident by train, which was on way from Seattle to Portland. There were about 78 passengers and five crew members on board.

According to previously published documents, railway used a new route to allow diehöhere speeds. The National Transportation Safety Board, a traffic authority, sent an investigator team to disaster, wrote The Washington Post.
