Bethlehem Catholic wrestling team won nine straight bouts to turn a 3-0 deficit into a 42-point lead over Cumberland Valley in a PIAA Class 3A preliminary-round matchup on Monday night at Nazareth Area Middle School.

The Golden Hawks ended up with a 54-12 victory, advancing to the first round of states against District 6 champion Central Mountain at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Giant Center in Hershey.
 
Turning points: After Cumberland Valley got a 3-1 decision from Quentin Milliken against Bethlehem Catholic’s Tavion Banks at 160 to open the match, the Golden Hawks ran off four pins, two decisions, a forfeit and a technical fall to take complete control.

The pins were from Ryan Zeiner (2:22 at 170), Mikey Labriola (2:22 at 182), Andrew Balukas (3:22 at 195) and Ryan Anderson (2:51 at 126). Zach Glenn had a 17-2 technical fall in 6:00 at 120 for the Golden Hawks.
 
Top performers: Zeiner, Labriola, Balukas and Anderson had the pins for the Golden Hawks. Glenn, Jarred Papcsy (15-0 win in 3:34 at 138) and Luca Frinzi (19-3 win in 5:41 at 145) had technical falls for the Golden Hawks.
 
What it means: The Golden Hawks improved to 14-4 on the season and head into Hershey with momentum.
