Pacers coach Nate McMillan billed Monday’s game against the Spurs as more than a duel between Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.

“We’ll play the game. It’s not Paul vs Kawhi,” McMillan said. “They’ll move (Leonard) around defensively, and we’ll do the same thing (with George).”

Despite McMillan’s earlier words, the contest did largely hinge on the outcome of George vs. Leonard, and one was simply better on this night.

Behind another MVP-caliber performance from Leonard, the Spurs (42-13) defeated the Pacers, 110-106, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Leonard finished with 32 points on 13 of 23 and added six rebounds, four steals and three assists. He has now gone for 30 in four straight games.

His counterpart George finished with 27 points on 8 of 15, including 4 of 7 from deep.

Pacers center Myles Turner added 22 points and six rebounds.

Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half, shaking off a cold start.

In a game that featured 14 lead changes and 12 ties, the Spurs leaned heavily on hustle plays, turning 12 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points. The Pacers had just four second-chance points.

David Lee added 12 points and 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season and Dewayne Dedmon collected a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Spurs continue the rodeo road trip Wednesday in Orlando, their last game before the All-Star break begins.
