PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Mets second baseman Neil Walker hadn't been able to get out of bed without feeling the herniated disk in his back. It's the reason he opted to end his 2016 season early and undergo surgery.

But Walker is in spring training feeling like he's got a brand new back. He can play the way he wants to play without holding back.

He's just one of many Mets in Port St. Lucie that the organization is keeping a close eye on, as they make a greater effort to prevent injuries.

Can Wheeler be moved to the 'pen?

Pitching coach Dan Warthen isn't sure if the club's altered spring training plan will work for everyone, but he's confident that it will be impactful.

Here are highlights from Wednesday's spring training press conferences.
