Several players are already down in Florida working out, including team captain David Wright, pitchers Jacob deGrom and Steven Matz, catcher Travis d'Arnaud, Yoenis Cespedes and Tim Tebow.

The Mets invited several minor league prospects to big league camp: RHP Chase Bradford, catcher Xorge Carrillo, LHP P.J. Conlon, infielder Phillip Evans, infielder Luis Guillorme, RHP Kevin McGowan, LHP David Roseboom, RHP Paul Sewald, infielder Dominic Smith, outfielder Champ Stuart, outfielder Travis Taijeron, RHP Corey Taylor and RHP Logan Taylor.

Dominic Smith and P.J. Conlon are particularly intriguing prospects to watch.

Smith is a power-hitting first baseman who was third in the Double-A Eastern League with 91 RBIs last season. He only hit 14 home runs, but ESPN's top scouting reporter, Keith Law, said Smith has 20-homer potential in the right ballpark.

Conlon is trying to become the first Irish-born player to make it to the major leagues since 1945. Conlon's family came from Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1993 and the southpaw played college ball at the University of San Diego with Cubs third baseman and reigning National League MVP Kris Bryant.

Top prospect Amed Rosario will also be in attendance in Port St. Lucie. Added to the Mets' 40-man roster in November, the shortstop has been praised by scouts for his defensive range, arm strength and overall athleticism.

Tradition Field will once again be the Mets' spring training home. The Mets recently pledged $55 million to help renovate the facilities and keep the club at Tradition Field for another 25 years. The city is also waiting on a $20 million grant from the state, which was requested through a program that allows Florida communities to obtain funding for spring training facilities.

Currently, the main stadium seats 7,000 and is a short drive away from beaches and PGA Village.
