RARITAN TWP. - Cuthbert A. Anderson, Jr., 21, of Lawrenceville, burglarized an Old York Road home last summer while the homeowners slept, police say.

He took off with several firearms, a small amount of cash, power tools and bottles of alcohol, all discovered missing the next morning when the residents woke up, according to police.

Now Anderson is in custody, charged on Friday in the burglary that happened on Aug. 16, police said.

Police were assisted in the months-long investigation by detectives from the State Police's Kingwood Barracks, during which Anderson was identified as a suspect, police said. Township police Officer William McEnroe, III conducted the initial investigation.

Anderson was interviewed by township police Det. Ryan Garbolino on Thursday at the Burlington County Jail, where Anderson was being held on charges out of that county. Anderson was transferred to the Somerset County Jail in Somerville on Friday, where he was charged, police said.

Anderson was convicted twice for receiving stolen property in 2015, according to court records. He was sentenced to 176 days on one conviction and 223 days in the other. He was ordered to spend five years on probation.

He had also been charged with receiving stolen property in Pennsylvania in 2014, according to court records.

In addition to theft and burglary charges, township police Anderson was charged with possession of a handgun without a permit, sale of weapons and possession of rifles and shotguns, police said.

He remains in the Somerset County Jail pending a court appearance, police said.
