A study by ARD and ZDF shows how the Internet is used in Germany. Video and audio streaming are popular, Facebook is stagnating – and WhatsApp is on the decline.

Internet users in Germany spend an average of two and a half hours per day with medium. This is conclusion of an online study by ARD and ZDF (PDF). There are differences between genders and age groups. Men use Internet according to study, on average, three hours a day, women about two hours. The 14-to 29-year-olds are four and a half hours. The more than 70 year olds spend an average of half an hour per day on Internet.

The data also gives information about how time is being delivered. Thus, on average, a three-quarters for media use is spent on a daily basis. Personal communication is not necessary for about an hour. However, re is still a little more room for "Or Internet use", which, according to study, includes games and online purchases.

The online study of ARD and ZDF has been created since 1997. From March to early April, 2,017 people from Market research institute GfK MCR were questioned for this year's survey.
