EU Justice Commissioner Věra Jourová calls for restricting of power of social networks. Facebook and ors would know "that toy in ir hands is difficult to control, that y have a lot of power been clawing," said Jourová of Süddeutsche Zeitung after hearing Facebook chief in US Congress. A remedy is needed, "a smart regulation that filters out risks and orwise does not furr impair internet sphere."

The data scandal has harmed not only individual user, but also society and Democratic debate; Mark Zuckerberg ignored that in his apology.

The EU Commission is also thinking of regulating algorithms, main instruments of platforms, said Jourová. Politicians and scientists were concerned about way in which people are "sorted and disciplined by social media without us being able to defend ourselves".

Jourová also sees a problem in anonymity behind which authors of hate messages often hide. "Cops tell me it's hard for m to track down people who place hate messages on net. If I write something that affects thousands of people, I should have to stand up for it with my name, "she said.

Facebook has to deal with a huge data abuse: data of up to 87 million users of social network – including 2.7 million EU Citizens – have appeared at British company Cambridge Analytica and are to be pirated for campaign Of today's US president Donald Trump has been used.

The data scandal has made many US citizens aware that private data in EU is better protected than in US so re is an alternative, says European commissioner. It intends to meet with national electoral commissions of all EU countries at end of April. In doing so, she wants to know what rules re are in respective Member States in order to observe and limit use of social media in election campaign. In addition, Jourová wants to find out how "manipulative political marketing as in case of Cambridge Analytica" can be banned.
