Carlos Ghosn is out of prison

The former boss of the Renault-Nissan Alliance-Mitsubishi, who was jailed for a second time on 4 April, has left the prison of Kosuge Thursday. The Tokyo tribunal has accepted his bail application in the amount of 4 million euros.

Carlos Ghosn is again out of prison on Thursday. The ex-CEO of Renault-Nissan is released shortly after 22: 20 (13: 20 GMT) not at all confident, flanked by guards, dressed in a suit without a tie, under the flashes of numerous media, before climbing into a black vehicle.

The Tokyo tribunal has accepted his bail application. The former magnate of the automobile had been detained since his re-arrest on April 4 last. Its release is accompanied by payment of a deposit of 500 million yen (4 million euros). Following the decision of the Tokyo tribunal, the prosecutors ' office was immediately appealed, considering it "regrettable" that the court has given its green light, "in spite of fears of destruction of evidence." But the appeal of the public prosecutor's office has been rejected.

The release from prison of Carlos Ghosn is done under strict conditions : "house arrest, forbidden to leave Japan, and other conditions designed to prevent destruction of evidence and escape," the court may specify. Especially, the former officer has the right to see his wife, Carole, that"provided that the court approves an application" in this sense, explained its main defender, Junichiro Hironaka, to the press. Carole Ghosn is also in the crosshairs of prosecutors for his supposed role in one of the components of the case.

The court decision comes a few days after the fourth indictment of the former leader. The new charges related to the misappropriation for personal use of $ 5 million of the funds from Nissan via a distributor of the brand in Oman.

It is this new case which had earned Carlos Ghosn his fourth arrest in early April, in the apartment he rented after his first release on bail. It was only a month ago that he had left the prison Kosuge where he had spent more than 100 days behind bars. Its release was authorized, upon the payment of a deposit of one billion yen (€8 million).

in Addition to the case of Oman, the ex-boss of Nissan is the subject of three other charges. He is suspected of having made incorrect declarations of income over the years 2010 to 2018, and have it covered by Nissan losses on personal investments during the 2008 economic crisis. He denies all these accusations. In videos released in recent days, he said he is "innocent" and the victim of a "conspiracy" orchestrated by some leaders of Nissan.
