The Government will distribute 332.3 million euros among a total of 70,267 livestock farmers (more than 12,000 of them from Galicia) within the framework of extraordinary aid to compensate for the situation caused by the drought and the conditions derived from the war conflict in Ukraine.

In a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, it was announced that the aid, which represents 94% of the budget assigned to this line of support, will be deposited into the bank accounts of the livestock farmers in the month of October.

This extraordinary aid has been granted ex officio to its beneficiaries, producers of beef (suckler cows), sheep and goats, as well as cow, sheep and goat milk. Likewise, it has been granted when the amount to be received was equal to or greater than 200 euros.

In the month of July, based on the provisional data of eligible livestock farms and number of animals, a linear adjustment of the unit amounts per head was made for the areas affected by high drought, with the aim of avoiding exceeding the maximum amount. estimated by species and productive orientation.

Thus, as reported by the ministry, the aid would be 143.48 euros for each beef cow; 15.89 per sheep and meat goat; 52.12 per dairy cow and 8.66 per dairy sheep and goat.

By autonomous communities, Extremadura (99.8 million), Andalusia (59.1 million) and Castilla y León (55.9 million) are the regions in which the largest amount of this extraordinary aid is distributed, while the Balearic Islands (693,291 euros ) and the Canary Islands (479,729 euros), concentrate the smaller amounts.

In terms of number of ranchers, Castilla y León (12,698), Galicia (12,152) and Extremadura (10,469) are the ones that accumulate the most beneficiaries, while La Rioja (298) and the Canary Islands (518) close the table.
