European natural gas futures fall 13.4% this Monday and are below 100 euros/MWh

MADRID, 24 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

European natural gas futures contracts, traded on the Dutch TTF platform, fell by around 13.4% this Monday, falling below 100 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), thus maintaining the downward path that They have been following since August.

At the opening, the price has fallen from 115 euros/MWh where it settled on Friday to 101.14 euros/MWh. After the first hours, the price has continued to fall to an intraday low of 96.5 euros, a price that has not been recorded since June 15.

Since the European Union began to assess limiting gas prices at the end of August, futures traded on the TTF platform have sunk 71.8%, from the 342 euros/MWh they registered.

Last week, the heads of state and government of the European Union promised "urgent" measures to intervene in the energy market by backing proposals from the European Commission such as the compulsory joint acquisition of at least 15% of the reserves and the flexible limit for the price of gas purchases, while they commissioned the Community Executive with a "concrete" proposal to generalize the 'Iberian exception' to the rest of the European Union.
