The president of CaixaBank, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, has assured that maintaining the entity's headquarters in Valencia is "the best thing for depositors and shareholders" and has denied having participated in conversations about a possible return to Catalonia.

He said this this Friday in a press conference with the entity's CEO, Gonzalo Gortázar, to present the results for 2023, a year in which the bank earned 4,816 million euros, compared to 3,129 million in 2022, which represents an increase of 53.9%.

He explained that in the first board of directors after the merger with Bankia, they reflected on the city that should host the headquarters and came to the conclusion that it would continue to be Valencia, although "not because of security or legal insecurity", but because it was the best.

"València is a balanced place and it seems to us that other places do not meet the conditions of origin that València has. It has welcomed us magnificently and we are very happy to be in València," said the president of the entity.

Asked if the latest political movements pressure the entity to move its headquarters to Catalonia - in reference to Junts' proposal to sanction companies that do not return - Goirigolzarri has denied that the entity feels pressured.
