Lantania appoints Rafael Alcón, current head of the Renewables area, as its new Energy Director

Lantania has appointed the general director of Energy, the until now head of its Renewables area, Rafael Alcón, who will become part of the management committee and will report directly to the group's CEO, Federico Ávila.

Alcón has been part of Lantania since 2021, the year in which he joined the company to promote the Renewable Energy division, as reported by the company in a statement.

Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and master's degree in Large Project Management from IESE-Structuralia, Alcón has experience in renewable energies with more than 5 gigawatts (GW) built in markets such as Europe, the United States, Latin America, Japan, the Middle East or South Africa.

Before joining Lantania he worked as global director of EPC at Isolux and as director of Operations at Elecnor, always linked to the field of renewables.

From his new position, Alcón will be in charge of directing one of the group's fastest growing areas, which represents more than 30% of its annual hiring, in the promotion, design and execution of renewable energy generation projects (solar parks, self-consumption or wind farms), transmission and distribution, and associated with electrical infrastructure in the railway and airport sectors, as well as in the naval sector.

The company has installed 1.3 GW of renewable energy, more than 2,100 kilometers of transmission lines, 1,000 kilometers of catenary and more than 50 substations.

The changes at Lantania Energía are completed with the appointment of the until now head of Renewable Operations, Jorge Barea, as the new director of Renewables. Industrial Engineer and Master in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Barea has spent his entire career in the renewable energy sector.
