A 26-year-old man died Monday when the motorcycle he was riding crashed with a car in Glendale Heights, police said.

According to a news release from the Glendale Heights Police Department, the crash happened about 11:18 a.m. on Schmale Road north of Fullerton Avenue in the western suburb.

Glenside Fire Protection District personnel transported the motorcyclist to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he died from his injuries, according the news release. His name was not released. The driver of the car, a 69-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention, police said.

Schmale Road was closed for about three hours after the crash.

The crash was being investigated by Glendale Heights police with the assistance of the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Team.
