Passenger air transport prices fell by 9.4% in the last quarter of 2022

MADRID, 17 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The prices of passenger air transport fell by 9.4% in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the previous quarter, but registered an increase of 6.4% compared to the same period of 2021, as reported this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Of the fifteen services sector activities for which the INE calculates price indices, eight of them cut their year-on-year rate of change in the fourth quarter and a total of seven increased it.

This is revealed by the Services Sector Price Index, whose objective is to provide quarterly indexes of the evolution of the price of services provided to companies by each of the sectors from the point of view of the producer.

Among the activities that cut their year-on-year rate to a greater extent compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, passenger air transport stands out, which reduced its annual rate by 14.5 points, to 6.4% due to lower prices for this activity.

On the promotion side, advertising stands out, which raised its prices by 4% year-on-year, almost 4.5 points above the rate of the previous quarter; and telecommunications, with an annual rate of 0.9%, more than one point higher than that of the third quarter of 2022.

As regards the quarterly variation (fourth quarter over third quarter), only two activities registered the largest decreases in prices: passenger air transport (-9.4%) and postal activities (-0.3%).

On the other hand, among the activities whose prices increased quarterly, advertising (14%), computer programming and consultancy (-0.5%) and activities related to employment (-0.4%) stand out.
