TRENTON -- A longtime educator was appointed Monday to a seat on Trenton's school board, filling one of two vacancies.

Addie Daniels-Lane, 60, retired in June 2015 after 37 years with the district.

"Ms. Daniels-Lane has vast, firsthand knowledge of Trenton Public Schools and its amazing students," Mayor Eric Jackson said. "She has served in various roles for many years, seeing to the critical needs of our children in the district, and I am grateful to her for agreeing to serve on the board."

She most recently was the principal of Trenton Central High School's West Campus from 2013 to 2015, but also served in that role at Grace A. Dunn Middle School and P.J. Hill Elementary School.

She has two master's degrees from The College of New Jersey in education and in counseling and personnel services.

Daniels-Lane's appointment follows that of Heather Watson last week. They fill vacancies created by the resignations of Guillermo Gomez and Jason Redd in January. There is still one open seat on the nine-member board.
