Telefónica Brazil earns 550 million until September, 19.8% less, after accelerating in the third quarter

MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Telefónica Brazil has obtained 2,932 million reais in net profit (almost 550 million euros at the exchange rate), after reversing the drop in profits in the third quarter with a rebound of 9.3%, which leaves the decline so far this year in 19.8%.

The company has invoiced 8.8% more until September, after growing in double digits and above inflation in its last quarter, up to a total of 35,382 million reais (6,632 million euros), according to its financial results.

Likewise, the reported gross operating profit (reported Ebitda) has remained stable at around 14,074 million reais (2,634 million euros).

The company has grown especially in mobile revenues, where it has made price adjustments for inflation and has also disconnected three million lines of those acquired from Oi due to being inactive, which has resulted in the loss of accesses. The firm, however, maintains 97 million accesses, of which 57 million are contracted.

In addition, Telefónica Brazil has triggered the sale of electronic devices, with a growth of over 20% so far this year, to 2,120 million reais (397 million euros) entered.

In the fixed segment, the operator has returned to growth and has billed 11,210 million reais (2,103 million euros), thanks to the boost of the fiber optic business, considered 'core' for the company.

In the last twelve months, Telefónica Brazil's fiber optic network has reached 71 new cities and reaches 22.3 million homes, which means that its size has increased by 21% year-on-year.

In the same period, the fiber customer base has grown by 20.4% and this quarter has exceeded the barrier of five million. On the other hand, the effect of inflation has also been reflected in costs, which have increased by 15% so far this year.

The company has completed the payment of the second tranche of shareholder remuneration in charge of the previous year's accounts last week and has allocated 3,900 million reais (732 million euros) so far this year, between payments and treasury stock, to remunerate their holders. Likewise, the firm has announced the launch of a 'ghost share' plan to remunerate its directors.
