The Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, the Community of Madrid, the Valencian Community and Andalusia already exceed the number of pre-pandemic tourist arrivals in the first ten months of the year, while Catalonia remains below the 2019 level, according to Frontur data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and consulted by Europa Press.

Between January and October, Spain received 74.7 million tourists, which is 18.2% more than in 2022 and is already above the pre-pandemic accumulated, with 0.2% more.

In the cumulative total of the year, the autonomous communities that received the most tourists were Catalonia, with 15.8 million - but without exceeding the 2019 level - 8.6% less; The Balearic Islands, which received 14 million travelers, being 4.8% higher than the pre-pandemic level; and the Canary Islands, which reached 11.2 million tourists, 4.3% more than 2019.

In addition, Andalusia was the fourth destination with the most tourist arrivals until October, with 10.8 million, with only 4,706 more travelers than in the same pre-pandemic period.

For its part, the Valencian Community did exceed the 2019 figure, being 6.8% higher, up to more than nine million tourists; like the Community of Madrid, which reached 6.5 million, only 1.9% more than pre-pandemic.

Regarding the accumulated figure for 2022, the Community of Madrid is the one that grows the most in tourists, with 29.6% more, followed by Andalusia (22.2%), Catalonia (21%), Comunitat Valenciana (20.2%), Canary Islands (13.2%) and Balearic Islands (8.6%).

On the other hand, the Frontur statistics published in the INE do not allow us to consult the data corresponding to the rest of the communities in Spain to know if they are above the 2019 level.
