The public collection for the registration tax stood at 56.38 million euros last September, which represents a strong increase of 174.8% compared to the 20.51 million euros recorded in the same month of 2021, period in which low commercial volumes were recorded due to the uncertainty caused by the health crisis and the problem of semiconductors.

According to data from the Tax Agency, the autonomous communities received 460.39 million euros for this tax in the first nine months of the current year, an 18.03% growth compared to the same period of the previous year.

The public coffers entered almost 752 euros on average for each vehicle registered in Spain in September, almost 468 euros more than in the ninth month of 2021, while so far this year the average fee was 728 euros (614 euros in the same period of 2021).

Spanish customers purchased vehicles in September with an average price (including tax) of 22,739 euros, which translates into a rise of 13.95% (2,784 euros more) compared to the same month in 2021. Likewise, the price average subscriber in the accumulated until September was 21,937 euros, an 8.44% increase.

In September, registered cars emitted an average of 121 grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometer, two grams less than a year earlier. In the first nine months of the year, average emissions were cut by four grams, to 122 grams per kilometer.

The total amount of vehicles registered in Spain in September stood at 1,648 million euros, a 16.1% year-on-year increase, while in the accumulated value of the first nine months the value of vehicles was 13,411 million euros, a 7.7% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
