Vidrala cuts its net profit by 37.4% until September but shoots up its sales by 24%

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Vidrala obtained a net attributable profit of 78.2 million euros in the first nine months of the year, which represents a decrease of 37.4% compared to the same period of 2021, the glass manufacturer reported this Friday to the National Commission of the Stock Market (CNMV).

In this way, Vidrala's earnings per share stood at 2.65 euros at the end of September, compared to 4.23 euros a year earlier.

The glass manufacturer's gross operating profit (Ebitda) reached 158.9 million euros in the first nine months of the year, a figure 30% lower than that of the same period in 2021.

In contrast, Vidrala's sales soared 24% between January and September, to 1,017 million euros, which at constant currency represents growth of 23.3%.

The company's debt amounted to 165.1 million euros at the end of September, compared to 98 million euros a year earlier, standing at the equivalent of 0.8 times the Ebitda of the last 12 months.

Vidrala has pointed out that the tensions in natural gas prices observed during the summer "have caused a temporary deterioration" in its margins in the third quarter.

However, the glass manufacturer expects its operating margins to recover "progressively" in the last quarter of the year thanks to the implementation of actions to mitigate energy costs and a gradual adaptation of its sales prices.

"In any case, the structural foundations of the business will remain solid and our strategic guidelines firmly committed to our long-term priorities: customer, competitiveness and capital," the company stressed to the CNMV.
