Lampiris will buy back any electricity of 42 wind turbines offshore Belgium

The energy supplier group Lampiris, a subsidiary of the French group Total has announced that it has signed an exclusive contract with a duration of 15 years from 1 October 2020, bearing on the entirety of the electrical output of the one of the largest offshore wind farms in Belgium, Rentel ". This park, owned and operated by the company Otary, is operational since end of 2018. It consists of 42 wind turbines, and displays an installed capacity of 309 MW, for an average annual production of 1 TWh, "thus covering the electricity needs of 300,000 homes," says Lampiris.

"This production reinforces how crucial the supply capacity of Lampiris in renewable energy," adds the energy supplier, who explains that " the intermittency of wind power will be offset by the energy produced by the concession of the hydroelectric plant of Platform Size, with a power of 140 MW ". "This is the most important contract for the supply of renewable in the history of Lampiris," according to Marc Bensadoun, ceo of Lampiris quoted in a press release. "It confirms our commitment to supporting the development of sustainable energy in Belgium and our commitment to offer our customers an energy that was both clean, accessible and available for years to come."
