Madrid, October 20, 2022 – Philips, a leader in health technology, participates in the Congress of the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC), which addresses the latest medical advances in the field and is held in Mallorca from October 20 to 22. The company attends to present its innovative solutions that facilitate the work of professionals and improve the lives of patients. IntelliSpace Cardiovascular helps make quick and informed decisions
This Philips IT solution is focused on improving workflow, allowing medical staff to obtain and generate information for the evaluation and follow-up of cardiac patients. The platform unifies clinical data, reports and images that come from diverse sources, the consultation of which required time and added complexity to medical decision-making. Through a single point of access to images and patient information, cardiologists can now make fast, informed clinical decisions through a multi-vendor, multi-technique web platform.
The head of the Cardiology Service of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid, Dr. José Luis Zamorano, points out that the IntelliSpace Cardiovascular platform "has undoubtedly changed and improved the healthcare and teaching workflow" because "in addition to allowing us to see the evolutionary changes in real time”, enables the “harmonization of reports, feeling within a common digital work space and having access to better information for both teaching and research aspects”.
Along these same lines, the cardiologist at Hospital La Paz in Madrid, Dr. Teresa López, highlights that this tool "allows all the studies to be accessible from any device" so that, when a patient is tested, they can "review previous studies and compare them, thus making it possible to see how it evolves."
EPIQ CVx, improves the quality of patient care
In the world of cardiology, there is a need to implement innovative diagnostic imaging solutions to improve workflows and the efficiency and confidence in patient diagnosis and treatment. In order to meet this goal and these requirements, Philips has developed the EPIQ CVx, an echocardiograph, which offers new functionality and performance to help improve the quality of care for each patient.
For the cardiologist at Hospital La Paz, Dr. Teresa López, this echocardiograph "provides additional information with respect to conventional equipment." The EPIQ CVx is used for all transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms. For Dr. López, it is key to take advantage of the advantages and tools offered by this equipment "with respect to advanced quantification of cardiac function" such as the AutoStrain or the Dynamic Heart Model.
This new technology brings with it significant advances in functionality, including new TrueVue photo-realistic image renderings, more efficient exams with real-time 3D imaging, and novel quantification such as Dynamic HeartModel and AutoStrain, powered by artificial intelligence.
ePatch Holter, remote electrocardiography system
Another of the advances that Philips deals with in this edition of the SEC is the ePatch Holter, an electrocardiographic recording monitoring system that allows the patient to be monitored for 14 days in order to measure their cardiac activity.
This new system is easier for the patient and "allows him to carry out his daily activity practically with total normality because the recorder is inserted in a waterproof transparent hypoallergenic film", explains the cardiologist, attached to the Arrhythmia Clinical Team of the Moisès Broggi Hospital from Barcelona, Dr. Pere Blanch.
In short, it provides users with “comfort” and the medical staff “makes their work easier”, according to the Cardiological Device Monitoring nurse at Moisès Broggi, Antònia Ortega.
SEC Congress 2022
The Congress of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, which is being held these days in Mallorca, deals with a comprehensive approach to the patient and with a multidisciplinary vision, a complete program of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
For Dr. José Luis Zamorano, the SEC represents "a clear update and continuous training in all aspects of cardiology because it manages to bring together professionals interested in the different and very varied areas of Cardiology."
For her part, the Cardiac Device Monitoring nurse, Antònia Ortega, is convinced that the SEC22 "will be very enriching" because the sessions "are of high quality" since they have "speakers with a level of excellence".
