For a window seat in the bus, the market leader will require a fee in the future. Reservations will be introduced on a number of routes from the spring onwards.

The bus company Flixbus wants to charge a fee for certain seat reservations in future. That's what Handelsblatt says. For a simple seat, 1.50 euro will be due in future, for a place with table two euros. Those who want to reserve directly behind Panorama disc in double-decker must pay four euros according to report. When travelling over more than 500 kilometers, fees should increase again. Apart from this, it should be possible to reserve a normal place for free on all routes.

The fees are to be introduced from spring onwards on some routes. National and international routes were affected, among ors in Germany, Austria, France and some Eastern European countries, said a spokesman of company. The reservations were introduced on demand from customers who would have taken care of seats because of full buses.

Flixbus has been market leader among bus operators since merger with competitor MeinFernbus in year 2015. The company covers 94 percent of German market. According to Flixbus, number of passengers has increased significantly last year: from 30 million in year 2016 to 40 million last year. From 2018, Flixbusse will also be driving in USA – First in California.

According to Flixbus, fares in Germany are not expected to rise. This was said by head of company, André Schwämmlein, in December. Instead, profit should be increased by better utilisation of buses: only 60 percent of seats are currently occupied.
