The host mayor, Inés Rey, and the president of OPC Spain, Matilde Almandoz, met yesterday in Madrid to finalize preparations. Online registration is open to professionals in the sector, decision-makers, students and those interested in this field.
Between February 22 and 24, A Coruña will host the 36th edition of the National Congress of OPC Spain, the association that brings together the main Professional Congress Organizer companies in the country. Leaders of this organization met yesterday in Madrid with the mayor of the Galician city, Inés Rey, to finalize preparations. The meeting took place under the vault of the Palace Hotel in Madrid, yesterday afternoon. Inés Rey, mayor of A Coruña, attended; Moisés Naranjo, Tourism Manager of A Coruña; Matilde Almandoz, president of OPC Spain; and Ana Trevisani, president of OPC Galicia. They were accompanied by representatives of OPC associations from all over Spain and heads of companies in the sector. This informal meeting was intended, on the one hand, to stage the support of the national MICE sector for the celebration of the Congress in A Coruña; and, on the other hand, make official the city's support for this initiative, which will also serve to promote the MICE destination city among professionals.
Appointment in Palexco
Palexco will be the infrastructure in charge of hosting the bulk of the meeting, organized by OPC Galicia and which will feature presentations focused on the sustainability of the events, the adaptation of the MICE sector (meetings, incentives, congresses and events) to the pressing need to integrate technologies such as artificial intelligence in the environment, taxation or sponsorship management.
The 36th National Congress of OPC Spain will be a classroom where attendees can update their knowledge with top-level speakers, but it will also serve as an agora to share ideas, concerns and discoveries. The annual event is one of the main networking nodes between the most active and innovative OPCs in Spain, who will take advantage of their stay in A Coruña to learn more about suppliers, destinations, decision-makers and clients.
360º Engagement
The program of the 36th National Congress of OPC Spain has been prepared taking into account the so-called 360º Commitment, that is, the need for companies in the MICE sector to offer their clients complete, useful, technologically updated services and experiences, but also aware and sustainable. Thus, among the presentations there are pieces on responsible management, mobility and accessibility; and about the enormous challenge, with its pros and cons, that the introduction of artificial intelligence in the organization of events represents. Other topics to discuss will be the marketing and communication of a congress; attracting sponsors; or taxation and developments in financial legislation.
Inscription
Registration for the 36th OPC Spain Congress remains open, with prices ranging from 200 to 405 euros depending on the sessions attended. Special rates have been set for members of OPC Spain and platforms such as the MICE Forum, Galicia MICE or the convention bureaus. In addition, there is a hyper-reduced rate of €35 for teachers and students. Reservations for places can be made online through the website opc2024.org.
MICE forum
In parallel, A Coruña will also host, on the morning of Thursday the 22nd, the meeting of the MICE Forum, an agora of debate that brings together OPC Spain with other associations that represent venue companies, hostesses, technology or incentive tourism. The congress program will be completed with visits to various interesting locations in the city, such as the Marina, the Old Town or the Helmut Newton photography exhibition that can be seen in the port.
