The company responsible for the Facebook data scandal is operating. The process has lost virtually all customers.

Facebook scandal: Cambridge Analytica announces bankruptcy

The British analysis firm Cambridge Analytica, i.e. company at heart of data scandal around Facebook, sets up its operation. The British umbrella company SCL Group also reported bankruptcy, company reported. All activities will be terminated immediately. It has been shown that business model is no longer profitable.

It is furr stated in statement that Cambridge Analytica has been victim of "numerous unfounded accusations" in recent months. It has been defamed for practices that are not only legal but widely accepted as standards in online advertising in political and commercial areas. The "unfair media coverage" of Cambridge Analytica has driven virtually all customers, company is in a precarious financial situation. The company referred to an independent investigation to show that accusations were not based on facts.

The Wall Street Journal, citing "informed people," triggered company's attitude that it had lost customers and at same time attorneys ' fees went up in wake of data scandal investigation.

Cambridge Analytica was at heart of Facebook data scandal. More than four years ago, company had access to data from up to 87 million Facebook users without informing Facebook about it. An app developer had sold Cambridge AnalyticaInformationen from participants to a poll as well as ir Facebook friends. The data will later be used illegally for election campaign of today's US president Donald Trump. That's what Cambridge Analytica denies.

In March, long-time boss of company, Alexander Nix, was suspended; In April, acting chief, Alexander Tayler, gave up his post.

Because of scandal, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said before US Congress. Facebook promised to better protect data of its users. Last Tuesday, social network announced that users would be given an easier way to delete some collected information, such as list of visited sites or links that were clicked.
