WARSAW, Poland, February 7, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Patryk Vega, one of the most popular directors of contemporary Polish cinema, has made a feature film titled "Putin" using deep fake technology. It shows the life of the Russian president from his childhood marked by violence in Georgia to the baseless invasion against Ukraine. "Putin" will be released internationally in the spring.

Patryk Vega is a Polish director whose films have continued to enjoy interest for years. He addresses difficult and controversial topics, but at the same time current. His most recent production is a political thriller about Vladimir Putin.

"Our film is an unprecedented biography spanning 60 years of Putin's life. It begins when Putin is 10 years old and continues throughout his political career. The film depicts the armed conflict in Chechnya, the terrorist attacks at the Dubrovka theater or Beslan, and the most tragic events in Ukraine, such as those in Bucha, Irpin and Mariupol," said Patryk Vega.

The authors of the film used deep fake technology. It is based on artificial intelligence algorithms and allows the image of another person to be placed on an actor's face. "It was difficult, because we obviously couldn't get Putin to come to our studio to train artificial intelligence to imitate him perfectly. The Kremlin materials were not enough to imitate the figure in cinematic resolution. Fortunately, we managed it after eight months of rehearsals," stated the Polish director.

And he emphasizes that his "Putin" aims to offer Western audiences a key to understanding contemporary Russia. "My ambition was to translate the culture of the East into the language of the West in a way understandable to the rest of the world," explained Patryk Vega.

The film is currently being shown in closed screenings for representatives of the film industry. The announcement was presented during the American Film Market in Santa Monica, an important event for the international film industry, where it aroused considerable interest from foreign distributors. "The Hollywood Reporter" has written that it is one of the most notable upcoming releases.

A scene from the film was recently screened in Ukraine, causing intense reactions among viewers. "The largest Ukrainian distributor decided to distribute the film not only in Ukraine but also in countries where Ukrainian emigration is particularly large," added the Polish director.
