PARIS, March 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- International higher education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds has today released the 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Spain stands out in Social Sciences, with its strongest program, Hospitality Management, among the top 15 in the world, while Business and Management occupies three of its top ten places. Spain is the fourth continental European country with the highest representation in the ranking, but it is ninth in terms of concentration of the 100 best programs. The 2023 issue of the QS World University Rankings by Subject offers independent data on the performance of 424 programs from 37 Spanish universities. Of the total number of programs classified in Spain, 95 improve, 94 descend and 208 remain unchanged. In addition, 27 are classified for the first time.
In addition, Spain is classified with 82 entries in the tables of the five major areas of study (Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences). Of these, 41 improve, 25 drop and 5 remain unchanged, while 11 qualify for the first time.
The University of Barcelona is the strongest Spanish institution as a whole, with 40 classified programs, 22 of them among the 100 best in the world. They are followed by the Complutense University of Madrid with 38 classified programs (12 among the best 100) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona with 37 (10 among the best 100).
