Despite the diesel scandal, the Volkswagen group recorded a worldwide sales record for 2017. In Germany, however, sales figures decreased slightly.

The Volkswagen Group has delivered 2017 more vehicles than ever before. 10,740,000 vehicles were handed over to customers all over world, company, which includes brands such as VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat and Porsche, was included. That was 4.3 percent more than in previous year. In December alone, VW delivered more vehicles with almost one million 8.5 percent. The Volkswagen Group is refore likely to remain world's largest car manufacturer before Toyota.

It was particularly good for Wolfsburg, for example in Eastern Europe, China and USA. In region of central and Eastern Europe, recovery of Russian market had a positive impact on sales and 2017 growth of 13.2 per cent, it was said. In North America, company recorded an increase of 4.0 percent last year with 976,400 deliveries.

In Asia-Pacific region, which also includes important Chinese market, sales figures 2017 by 4.3 percent to 4.5 million vehicles. At this time, almost 4.2 million new cars of Volkswagen Group went to customers in China – an increase of 5.1 percent. In December, according to VW 460,100, new cars were delivered to customers in China – an increase of 17.8 percent.

Slight decline in Germany

In Germany, where diesel scandal had had a negative impact on sales, VW was able to increase figures in December compared to same month last year. Neverless, Volkswagen remains popular: from 10,740,000 vehicles sold worldwide, around 6.2 million were part of VW brand. This is followed by Audi with just under 1.9 million and Skoda with 1.2 million delivered cars. The seat brand 2017 around 468,000 vehicles worldwide, Porsche 246,000.
