In response to the growing demand for electric vehicle batteries, BYD has revolutionized its production method by integrating AMRs and customized autonomous forklifts from ForwardX Robotics. This strategic move away from labor-intensive methods, which are costly and inadequate to meet the rapid growth of the industry. At the BYD facility, nine units of ForwardX Robotics' AMR Max 1500-L Slim and six units of Apex 2000 autonomous forklifts with 2.4 meter long forks operate on a vast area of 15,000 to 16,000 square meters. These AMRs and forklifts work together seamlessly to optimize material transportation and streamline production workflows.
Advanced automation technology has transformed workflows within facilities. Line operators initiate material requests via portable PDAs, triggering real-time alerts on smart panels for warehouse staff. Materials are then prepared and delivered to designated workstations, where AMR Max and Apex forklifts navigate autonomously to complete tasks.
The integration of BYD AMRs and automated forklifts ensures unprecedented efficiency and precision in material handling.
