STATEMENT: La Farga wins the Award for Best Major Renovation by the Spanish Association of Shopping Centers

Madrid, October 3

The most prestigious awards in the sector recognize the intervention carried out at the C.C. La Farga, which one year after the reform registered a 30% increase in sales and a 15% increase in attendance

The La Farga shopping center, located in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and promoted by Amalthea Retail, has won the award for Best Large Renovation in the context of the XIX Spanish Congress of Shopping Centers and Parks held on September 27 and 28 in Madrid. The Awards granted by the Spanish Association of Shopping Centers and Parks (AECC) recognize the best projects developed in 2022 within the sector. The renovation works of the C.C. La Farga had an approximate investment of 11 million euros and gave rise to a new concept with more natural light, outdoor terraces and a state-of-the-art gastronomic and leisure destination on the upper floors. One year after the remodeling, the shopping center was already registering a 30% increase in sales and a 15% increase in footfall, placing it above 2019 figures. In the words of Enrique Biel, General Director of Amalthea Retail and asset manager of the C.C. La Farga, "it is a great satisfaction to receive this award that corresponds to all those who have made the renovation of La Farga possible, starting with the investor, Dr. Issa Al-Kawari, and allies in management such as Marcus Fincham. And that vision of the property could not have come to life without the fantastic work of a great and extensive team: the Broadway Malyan architecture studio, the project manager Gleeds, the joint venture formed by Certis and Cardoner Group, the ECOP Marta Batlle Beltrán, the team of management of LyC Consultores S.L., the marketing companies ERV Consulting and Shophunters, and the marketing and communication work by Agencia Fandom. Light and opening to the outside to achieve an occupancy rate of 97% With this remodeling it has been recovered and put In value, a building from 1996 with interventions in the entrances and interior of the mall based on light and metal that recreate the industrial past of the building. In addition to the quality and avant-garde of the architectural elements, the AECC jury also highlighted the strong link between La Farga and its immediate surroundings and with local commerce. During the award reception, Enrique Biel explained that "la Farga is a unique center. It is one of the oldest shopping centers in Barcelona and is also located in the heart of a city as vibrant as L'Hospitalet. We have always wanted to be another square in the city and we must be grateful for the support that has always given us provided by the City Council and the mayor, Núria Marín, together with her government team, to make this happen. That is why it is very exciting to see that this remodeling is already translating into a notable increase in visits by the local population and a greater connection with the events and activities held in the shopping center". In the last year, the shopping center has added up to 16 new brands to its commercial mix. With the imminent arrival of Guaw, the shopping center's occupancy rate will reach 97.23%, approaching full occupancy and exceeding pre-pandemic levels by more than 20%.
