BEIJING, February 7, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- The launching ceremony of the China 2024 Challenge by La Vuelta - Beijing Changping was held in Changping district, Beijing, announcing that the event would take place from May 25 to 26 and that registration was open. Starting January 31, 2024, foreign participants could complete registration by clicking on the link within the official website to access the registration page in English, or by accessing the registration process on official social media accounts of the event.

The China 2024 Challenge by La Vuelta - Beijing Changping is scheduled for May 25 and 26, 2024 in the Beijing Changping district. Includes Criterium, Team Time Trial, Family Fun Ride on May 25 and Road Race on May 26. Apart from the Family Fun Ride, the other three competitions will be timed and scored according to the regulations of the Chinese Sports Cycling Association. Participants will receive medals at the end of the tests.
The Criterium, Team Time Trial and Family Fun Ride scheduled for May 25 will adopt a circular format with 5 kilometers per lap. The Criterium and the team time trial will involve a total of 5 laps, which will total 26.2 kilometers, while the family race will not be timed. The start and finish line are located at the Future Science City Sports Center in Changping District. The tour extends along Future Science City Avenue, Future Science City Road, Yingcai North Second Street, and Future Science City East Road. The Criterium, Team Time Trial and Family Fun Ride are open to the general public, allowing cycling fans to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and professional experience of the competition.
On May 26, the road race will cover a distance of 95.5 kilometers, with a total elevation gain of 730 meters. The start and finish lines will remain at the Sports Center of the City of Future Sciences. The race course passes through classic sections including historic cobblestone roads, Wangbai Road and Wangbai Road Tunnel, offering panoramic views of distant valleys and mountains. The overall difficulty level of the race is intermediate, with a Category 3 climb of 7.46 kilometers at an average slope of 4.2% and a Category 4 climb of 2.65 kilometers at an average slope of 3.7 %. The maximum slope of the route reaches 16.7%. In the road race, legendary riders will ride alongside regular participants, sharing their passion for cycling and experiencing the pure essence of La Vuelta.
