Madrid, March 26

On September 5, 2023, on the occasion of World Multiple Myeloma Day, the animated short Discovering Multiple Myeloma produced by Amigos del Cine Kamikace (ACK) and executed by Rokyn Animation premiered at Cinesa (Fuencarral) in Madrid.

Although the aforementioned short film is subtitled in several languages, given the interest aroused, the CEMMp has dubbed it into English (Discovering Multiple Myeloma/Animation documentary short film) so that it can be viewed more extensively due to the great interest it may arouse among patients with multiple myeloma and to give visibility to this cancer to society in general.

Multiple myeloma is a blood cancer, the second in incidence and the most unknown. In Spain it has an incidence of 2500/3000 new diagnoses per year and a prevalence of 13,000/15,000 patients.

One of the objectives of the Spanish Community of Patients with Multiple Myeloma association has been to provide accurate and innovative information to patients and visibility to the disease that represents 1? all cancers.

Multiple myeloma, despite being an incurable disease by definition, has research that has advanced a lot in recent years, thanks in part to the research work carried out in Spain where some of the hematologists specialized in myeloma are a world reference.

Spain is a world leader in multiple myeloma.

The short describes in a simple way the first steps of the disease.

The continuation of this short film is being prepared, “Immunotherapy”, dedicated to new treatments, which will premiere this year in September 2024.
