The snow has started to fall and Winter Storm Niko is expected to bring anywhere from 6 to 12 inches to the area, forecasters say.

In anticipation of the storm, these Hudson County schools and school districts have announced they will be closed today:

-- Hudson County Schools of Technology

-- Jersey City

-- Kearny

-- Marist High School

-- North Bergen

-- St. Anthony High School

-- St. Peter's Prep

-- Secaucus 

-- Union City

-- Weehawken

-- West New York

-- Hudson County Community College

-- St. Peter's University
