·“Dress like a man! Time to let go off those ill-fitting graphic tees” asserts fashion model Karan Oberoi. Lean towards well-fitted tees and shirts in solid colours, dependable prints (stripes, checks). Maturity spells style, in more ways than one!
·Trousers and jeans are staples, start wearing other types of lower wear too – chinos, khakis and linen pants have flooded the market and with good reason. Size yourself up and invest in a few pairs of different types of lower wear.
·Tailor your suits and store them in garment bags. Choose colours like charcoal grey and dark brown for an edge.
·“Get your colour combinations right”, says top model Karan Oberoi, “and don’t shy away from ‘feminine’ colours.” A fitted salmon shirt will go fabulously with a pair of beige linen pants.
·Prints are in! Small quirky prints with a pair of chinos and a smart pair of shoes will automatically up your style quotient several notches. Prints are also a great way to transition from graphic tees to a more mature yet tongue-in-cheek level.
·Accessorize smartly. Bare wrists are passé. Invest in a watch (or a few!) of good quality and watch the ladies pay attention. If you like being edgy, go for a leather bracelet. However, keep it simple.
·Step forward from boring sneakers. Update your shoe wardrobe with more classic varieties - suede’s, boots and casual leather shoes. Model Karan Oberoi suggests “If you must wear sneakers, try to stick with the understated kinds, but only for casual outings.”
·Understand layering to camouflage your trouble areas. Add lightweight blazers and jackets to your wardrobe to instantly jazz up your look, while also hiding those bulges!
·Most importantly, always remember to only wear comfortable, well-fitted clothes. Keeping it simple is key.
