Akron shooting victim drove himself to the hospital

AKRON, Ohio -- A 20-year-old man shot several times Tuesday night in Akron drove himself to the hospital, police say.

The shooting happened just before midnight on East Avenue near the intersection of Carey Avenue, Edwards said.

The victim was sitting in his 2008 Chevy Tahoe when the shooter walked up to the driver side window and fired shots, Edwards said.

The victim drove himself to Barberton Hospital. He was stabilized and moved to Akron City Hospital for additional treatment. He is in serious but stable condition, Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards said.

No arrests have been made and no other information was available.
