Devante Gibbs was caught late Saturday in the Los Angeles area by the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was caught after the U.S. Marshals in northeast Ohio sent Gibbs' information to Marshals services nationwide.

Gibbs is awaiting extradition back to Ohio and could possible face additional charges, the Marshals said.

Gibbs became a fugitive after he walked out of a Lorain County Common Pleas courtroom Feb. 10 during jury deliberations in his trial. He was on bond through the court and was not restrained during the trial, U.S. Marshal Anne Murphy told cleveland.com.

He was listed as the Marshals' Fugitive of the Week on Feb. 12.

He was charged with rape, kidnapping, child endangerment and felonious assault in connection with a 2015 incident involving a 2-year-old child, the Marshals said. In the case, the jury returned a guilty verdict on all counts.
