How your N.J. Assembly members voted on measure condemning Trump immigration order

TRENTON -- The state Assembly on Wednesday followed in the state Senate's footsteps and voted 45-19, mostly along party lines, to condemn President Donald Trump's controversial travel ban.

Only Democrats -- whose party controls the chamber, the lower house of the New Jersey Legislature -- voted in favor of ceremonial measure against the Republican president. No Republicans voted in favor. Three abstained. Two Democrats voted no.

The move came less than two weeks after the  Senate, the Legislature's upper chamber -- which is also controlled by Democrats -- passed a similar resolution condemning Trump's executive order, which aims to protect against possible terrorism by temporarily barring immigration and travel to the U.S. from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

How your senator voted on Trump measure

Neither resolution will change anything. They are simply symbolic shows of resistance. A federal appeals court overturned Trump's order earlier this month, though Trump has vowed to fight the decision in court.
