Yearning for a sight of spring? The Cleveland Botanical Garden's 14th annual Orchid Mania is in its second weekend. The show runs through March 5. This year's show celebrates hanging gardens. Masses of hanging orchid flowers adorn almost every inch of the garden, including hallways and glasshouses. And, they come in every color, size, shape and scent imaginable. "The show opened last Saturday and guests are loving it," said Dave Lowery, vice president of brand experience, in an email. This event is not just about gazing at the flowers all day. There are plenty of flower-oriented doings to take part in. Here are some:

Fashion Meets the Botanicals: Orchid Mania includes 12 botanically inspired dress designs developed exclusively for the show by students from the Kent State University Fashion School.

Orchids After Dark: The garden is open until 9 p.m. Wednesdays for guests to mingle after hours among the thousands of blooming orchids and sip themed cocktails purchased from the Garden Cafe.

Ask the Orchid Doctor: From 1 to 2 p.m. this Saturdays, and Feb., 11 and 25, during Orchid Mania, experts will be on hand to help with questions about raising orchids in the home. Bring in your orchid for a diagnosis.

Greater Cleveland Orchid Society Show and Sale: The Greater Cleveland Orchid Society, the oldest affiliate of the American Orchid Society, hosts the annual show and sale from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19. Special workshops and tours are scheduled throughout both days.

The Garden of Good and Evil Benefit Through the Looking Glass: The party is presented from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, Feb. 10, by the garden Young Leaders. Stepping through the Looking Glass, guests will be transported from the wintry streets of Cleveland to a fantastical and madcap world at the Garden of Good and Evil. Expect the unexpected in this curious and mysterious realm where up is down, black is white, and day is night. Guests will enjoy magical potions, decadent foods, eccentric characters, playful rhythms and larger-than-life beats -- all in the beguiling setting of Orchid Mania. All proceeds benefit the garden's mission, which includes educating thousands of Cleveland-area public school children. Tickets -- $100 per garden or Holden Arboretum member and $125 per nonmember -- may be purchased at cbgarden.org/goodandevil or by calling 216-707-2819.

Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesdays; noon-5p.m. Sundays; closed Mondays. Admission: $11, adults; $6, children 3-12; free, children 2 and under and botanical garden and Holden Arboretum members.
