Karsten Polke-Majewski has been awarded for his reportage on a young Afghan woman. It clarifies that under-age refugees are not sufficiently protected.

Child relief: Time online editor wins media prize

A contribution of time online editor Karsten Polke-Majewski has received media prize "children's rights in One World" of children's emergency relief. In his post "who protects Rana?", Polke-Majewski describes example of 17-year-old Afghan Rana, as German authorities and politicians partly fail to protect refugee children adequately and systematically, partly from ignorance. About 300,000 children under 18 years of age have lodged an application for asylum since beginning of 2015. The prize was awarded in category online.

The children's emergency relief praises media prize since 1999. Awards will be made in categories of print, radio, television and online, which highlight children's rights and situation of children in world in an outstanding way. In addition, a children's jury awards a special prize for contributions directly to children and adolescents.
