No injuries were reported when shots were fired on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Thursday, Illinois state police said.

The gunfire was reported around 3:05 a.m. in the outbound lanes of the expressway near 63rd Street, state police said.

Police initially said a semi had been hit, but later said that was incorrect.

Both exit ramps at 63rd Street and parts of the southbound expressway were closed for the investigation. They were reopened by 4:30 a.m.
