LIVE UPDATES: Mets manager Terry Collins gives first press conference of spring

PORT ST LUCIE, Fla. -- Mets pitchers and catchers reported for spring training on Sunday, and today, manager Terry Collins will give his first press conference of the season at Tradition Field, the team's training complex.

At the end of last season, Collins hinted at retirement, saying this season could potentially be his last. Collins is the oldest active manager in MLB at age 67, and he'll be 68 in May.

Collins has managed the Mets since 2011. Prior to the that, he managed the Angels for three seasons from 1997-1999, and the Astros for three seasons from 1994-1995. He also manage for two seasons in Japan, managing the Orix Buffaloes.

Since mentioning retirement in October, Collins hasn't publicly said anything further about retiring. He acknowledged that this team could be a special one, and he'd like to give this group another chance to reach the World Series.

The clubhouses open at 9:30 a.m. today, and Collins is expected to speak at 11. Pitchers Noah Syndergaard and Jerry Blevins were the first players to address the media Sunday.

The Mets will hold their first team workout with pitchers and catchers on Tuesday at Tradition Field. Position players report on Feb. 17, and the team's first full-squad workout will be on the 19. The Mets will then play their first spring training game against the Boston Red Sox on Feb. 24, at JetBlue Park in Fort Meyers, Fla. They return home the following day to play the Tradition Field opener, the first of 18 spring home games.
